      The following is a transcription of RW "Billy" Munro's genealogy notes:

      [Alexander Monro] «i»Youngest son of Charles Monro of Berryhill (1777- ) and Mary Arthur; born Stonehaven 1823; admitted S.S.C., 17 July 1855;jointt town clerk of Glasgow and later town clerk 1858-1871; prominent in committee with establishment of City Improvement Trust; married Charlotte Stephens; died 9 October 1871. Studied Marischal College, Aberdeen, (A.M. at 16); entered father's office (C. & C.A. Monro Solicitors Stonehaven), later in Edinburgh (Andrew Dunn, W.S. - Dundas and Wilson) and Glasgow ( - Allardice); "an able man of business...but inclined to be dilatory"; "as a conveyor and parliamentary agent Mr. Munro had few equals and no superiors", (Scotsman obit).
