- Robert was educated at Harrow and at Merton College, Oxford, where he received his B.A., Second Class, on 28 May 1819, and M.A., Second Class in Classics on 15 Nov 1821.
He entered into Holy Orders and was rector of Aston-Sandford, Buckinghamshire from 1850 to 1857.
He and his wife, Charlotte, who was also his cousin, had no surviving children.
Robert had more than four children, but all but the four mentioned, died in infancy.
