  Douglas married Corinne Roosevelt, who was the sister of President Theodore Roosevelt and the aunt of Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was an author, member of the Advisory Committee of President Coolidge and President Hoover, member of the Executive Council of the Republican National Committee. He founded the first Red Cross War Chapter in 1914 and was awarded the Legion of Honor.
