The following is from "William and Mary College Quarterly Historical Magazine" - Vol. XIII #4 - Oct 1933 - The Monroe Family - p. 231-241:

Rev. Andrew born 1660, resided in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. He married Sarah Smith, whose will in on record in that county dated 31 May 1725. She was the daughter of Arthur Smith of that county who mentions her in his will of 1697, and the widow of Robert Pitt of Newport Parish, Isle of Wight county. Rev. Andrew and Sarah (Smith) Monroe had four children, named in her will of 1725.
      **********

Rev. Andrew Monro was Rector of Upper Parish, Isle of Wight County, Virginia 1700-1719.

He may have come to Virginia with his brother, John about 1690, after they both completed their educations as clerics in England. They were of the Church of England.

In 1693 his household included Peter, a seven-year-old Indian boy who was a slave or a foundling.

Andrew was minister of Established Church, Virginia, on record in 1696, and was named after his uncle, Major Andrew.

He was buried under the aisle of the "Old Brick Church" (now called St. Luke's) near Smithfield, Virginia.

His wife was the daughter of Colonel Arthur Smith (or Smyth) of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and the widow of Robert Pitt of Newport Parish, Isle of Wight County, Virginia. One reference says they married in about 1672, but that seems a bit early.

Error alert: The Boggs reference says Andrew was a son of David Munro III of Katewell. Most references say Andrew was David's grandson.
