  • Notes
    • Rev. John Monro may have gone to Virginia with his brother, Andrew, about 1690 after they both completed their educations as clerics in England. They were of the Church of England.

In 1692, he served as Rector of Hunger's Church near Eastville, Northampton County, Virginia. In 1702, he was Rector of St. John's Parish in King William County.

He may have been a minister in Pomunkie Neck.

One reference says his wife was Mary Blair, daughter of John Blair.

The death date given for John is the same as that for his wife, Christian. There may be an error there. Also, the Boyer reference says that John's wife was Christian Blair. Since that is the same name as his mother, there may be an error here, too.

Error alert: The Boggs reference says John was a son of David Munro III of Katewell. Most references say John was David's grandson.
