  • Notes 
    • George served as an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 27 Nov 1861, promoted to First Lieutenant 27 Sep 1862 and Captain 13 Oct 1865. He served in the fourth Battery of the Massachusetts Light Artillery under Captain Charles Manning.

      He was discharged on 10 Nov 1865 as First Lieutenant.

      After the war, George was a farmer and postal mail clerk. He planted many street trees near his home on Lowell Street in West Peabody, Massachusetts.
