Notes |
- Silas was the son of Thomas Ansley and Marguerite Maria (Oxley) Morse.
He graduated from Bridgetown Academy of Nova Scotia in 1876 and from Newton Theological Institute in 1892. He was a Republican in politics and a friend of Teddy Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge and Henry Cabot Lodge, Sr. He was a Mason and a member of the Odd Fellows and of the Baptist Church.
After he moved from Nova Scotia, he learned the printers and bookbinders trade with Rand-Avery Company of Boston, Massachusetts. He then decided to go into the ministry and went on to college in Newton, Massachusetts.
During his pastorate in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he was appointed Juvenile Probation Officer by the court and did some great work with young people. His hobbies were printing and book binding.
