Notes |
- Murdoch inherited the lands of Ardross from his mother and assumed the name Mackenzie, but he sold Ardross and bought Dundonnell.
Murdoch's older brother, Hugh, was wounded at the battle of Nimeguen, in Holland, and lost his sight. Because of this, General Sir Hector Munro of Novar called off the previously scheduled marriage of his daughter, Jane, to Hugh. Murdoch was so filled with compassion for his brother that he attempted to arrange an elopement, but Jane was too afraid of her father to go through with it.
