      "Donald Lynde Munro II, 66

      Donald Lynde Munro II, retired Assistant Executive Director, Jefferson County Developmental Disabilities Resource Center, died at The Hospice of Saint John, Lakewood, on Jan. 18, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer.

      He was born Jan. 25, 1939, in Denver, to the late Donald L. and Margaret A. Munro. He attended Morey Junior High School and graduated from East High School in 1957. Donald served in the U.S. Army Security Agency, from 1957 to 1960, and served in Germany as a communications interceptor. On Feb. 14, 1962 he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Higdon in Denver.

      Mr. Munro attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969, and received his Masters degree in Accounting and Manpower Management in 1970. He was licensed as a nursing home administrator by the state of Colorado.

      Donald was a long-time member of Westland Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sigma Iota Epsilon Management Fraternity, the American Management Society, the American Society of Public Administrators, the Association for Retarded Citizens, and the Institute for Nonprofit Management. He also served on the board of directors of several voluntary community services, including the Colorado Credit Counseling Services, Jefferson County Mental Health Center, Jefferson County Community Housing Resource Board, Jeffco Action Center, Jeffco Senior Wheels, and the Morrison Opera Company. He was a proud of his Scottish ancestry and enjoyed attending the yearly Scottish Clan festivals at Estes Park and Highlands Ranch. His favorite quote was "No God, No Peace - Know God, Know Peace."

      Munro is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son Donald Lynde Munro III; his sister Joanne Lonis of Littleton; his brother David Munro of Littleton; by three nieces, Susan Tansey of Littleton, Jill Tarver of Monument, Colo., and Kimberly Ordiway of Benton Harbor, Mich.; four great nephews, four great nieces; and other relatives and many friends.

      Burial was at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver."
