- In one place, Ref. (1) gives Margaret's birthplace as Birnie, Morayshire. In another it says she was born in Elgin.
In the record of her marriage to Peter, Margaret (or Mary) is described as follows:
"Margaret McKenzie, domestic servant, aged 22 years of Birken Hill, St. Andrews Lhanbryd. The daughter of Murdoch McKenzie, Shepherd and Grace Robertson."
