- James' birth is recorded as follows:
"James Munro born 23rd November 1869 at 9 Broad Wynd, Leith. The son of Peter Munro, railway porter, and Margaret McKenzie, married 2nd June 1864 in Elgin."
In 1881, James was 10 years old and living with his parents at 144 Leith Walk in Leith, Scotland. The 1891 census shows him age 21 and still living at the same place.
His marriage with Marion is recorded as follows:
"On the 31st day of December 1894 at Stobhill Manse, Gorebridge, after Banns according to the Forms of the Church of Scotland, James Munro, lorryman, aged 25 of 144 Leith Walk, Edinburgh, The son of Peter, Munro, Lorryman, and Mary McKenzie."
