May 1805; admitted W.S. 5 March 1829 but did not practise; suc. to Auchinbowie 1835 on grandmother's death & adopted surname Binning Monro; exhibited at Royal Scottish Academy; took Sophia as heir of entail on death of brother George 1884 & d. Oxford 12 December 1891, having m. 1835 cousin Harriet (d. 1893) dr. of Prof. Alex Monro (Tertius) with issue - David (1836-1905), Alexander (b. 1838), George Home (1840-85), Charles Carmichael (b. 1851) & 2 drs; 3 sons (James, Robert, & John) d. inf.
