[Alexander Monro] «i»Second son of Alexander Binning Monro (1805-91), was born 12 April 1838 & emigrated to New Zealand*; on brother David's death in 1905 suc. to Sophia as heir of entail, & took surname Binning Monro; d. 24 November 1918 having m. (1st) 1862 Elizabeth Cotterell (d. '76) with issue - George Home (b. 1865), Alexander Edward (b. 1867, d. 1956), Herbert David (b. 1869), Henry Charles (b. 1874) & 3 drs.; (2nd) 1895 Annie Frances Peel. *Settled in Melborough & represented Wairan in Melborough Provincial Council, 1869-70.
