  Arthur inherited his father's ability to make money in the shoe business and spend it on the finer things in life. He spent time in Paris soon after the Great War, and there he met and married a beautiful young student. Soon after he brought her home to Montreal, however, she was paid to return to France because her background had not met his family's standards !
