Notes |
- From THE FRENCH QUARTER by Ron Graham:
Napoleon Tetrault was born in 1869 in Chatham in the southwest corner of Ontario, not far from Detroit, the son of a shoe merchant and an alderman. At the age of twenty "Nap" moved to Montreal to make his fortune. He did so by making shoes. Thanks to political connections with the Conservative government he picked up the major contracts to manufacture boots for the Canadian and French armies during the first world war, and Tetrault Shoes became one of the largest shoe companies in Canada. Napoleon became a millionaire.
Naploeon Tetrault liked the "good life", and he acted and spent like a millionaire. He spent and gambled both in America and France, and eventually his diastrous habits and speculations in the French franc ruined him.
