      «i»**********
«/i»The following is from the Spencer reference:

«i»There are many early records of land sales by members of the Monroe family. The earliest is a record dated 21 Jan 1799 for land sold by Abraham Munroe to James Benham. Jonas Monro and Samuel Munrow appear in 1803, and Jacob Monroe in 1807. I'm not sure whether these were the dates that the land was sold, or the dates that the deeds were recorded (which could have been years later).
