Notes |
- Error alert: Mackenzie and R. W. Munro say Abraham was the son of Philip's other wife, Mary Benjamin, but the given birth date suggests that Abraham was born long after Mary's death.

«/i»The following is from the Spencer reference:
«i»p. 35 Guilford, Joan The History of the Monroes. Abraham born 1762 appl. for a pension on the basis of his Revol. War service on 1 June 1833 and in it stated that he was born at Lexington, resided at Wendell, Hampshire Co., MA at his enlistment in 1777, res. next in Worcester Co., MA and in 1784 removed to NH and in 1793 to New Hartford, Oneida Co., NY and then to Bridgewater, NY from where he applied. He mentions no wife or children, but in 1850 he was at Bridgewater, NY with an Adeline, born about 1813 in NY probably his daughter. During the war he was a private in Capt. Harvey's Co., Col Woolbridge's Mass Regt. and was present at the surrender of Burgoyne. He served 1 July 1771 to 13 Dec. that year and in 1779 from 1 August to 1 Sept. in Capt. Baker's Co. In 1800 he had 2 male children under 9 and 1 female under 9 at Oneida Co., Also with him were a female 16-25 and another 26-44 probably his wife...
There are many early records of land sales by members of the Monroe family. The earliest is a record dated 21 Jan 1799 for land sold by Abraham Munroe to James Benham. Jonas Monro and Samuel Munrow appear in 1803, and Jacob Monroe in 1807. I'm not sure whether these were the dates that the land was sold, or the dates that the deeds were recorded (which could have been years later).
