    • !New Brunswick "Gleaner: December 20, 1838 - MARRIED - On December 14, At Somerset Vale, Bathurst, by the Rev. S. Fraser of Miramichi, Francis Ferguson of Bathurst, to Ann Eliza, second daughter of Hugh Munro.

      !New Brunswick "Advocate" September 15, 1875 - Death - Francis Ferguson - Born 1808 - came to N.B. 1829 to work for GILMOUR & RANKIN CO., Miramichi .. remained until 1834 - went to Bathurst to take charge of G.R. & Co. there. In a year or two became head of FERGUSON, RANKIN & Co., associated with G.R. & Co. but independant. 1851 moved to St. John with POLLOCK, RANKIN & CO. His brother, the late Senator John Ferguson, took charge of the Bathurst Establishment. Pollack, Young, Rankin retired one by one from the St. John Branch and Ferguson became the sole proprietor.

      BIO:Francis arrived in New Brunswick in 1829, and lived first at Miramichi. He built a home at Bathurst Village that he called "Old Hall" after his father's home in Scotland. This home became the residence of his brother John when Francis went to St. John, and later the home of Alexander Rankin Ferguson (son of Francis). It was totally destroyed by fire in 1877 and all the old Ferguson family papers were lost. Francis lived the remainder of his life in St. John at 144 Prince William Street.
