  Jotham is listed in the 1862 Boston Directory as a calker, living at 85 Eutaw Street, East Boston, but by 1867 he had become a constable. He died at 171 Brooks Street, East Boston. His death record calls him "officer in court". On 15 Jul 1889, Mary R. Munroe petitioned for the administration of his estate. There are several deeds in the name of Jotham E.
