- Rebecca is mentioned in an interesting deed dated 4 Oct 1801 by which "John Nelson of Hartford County and Rebecca his wife" deeded a plot of ground on Corn Hill Street in Annapolis "in consideration of the natural love and affection which they...bear unto the said John Munroe...and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current money." In the endorsement it says that Rebecca appeared before two Justices of the Peace of Hartford County "and being examined privately and out of the hearing of her said husband acknowledged that she relinquished her rights of dower to the said ground and that she did the same willingly and freely without being induced thereto by fear of threats or ill usage of her husband or fear of his displeasure."
