| Notes |
- Donald belonged to the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian). He immigrated to Canada in 1880 and later moved to the United States. He became a naturalized US citizen on 15 Mar 1892 in the Court of Common Pleas, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
He worked as a toolmaker/machinist at the US Navy yard in Portsmouth, Virginia. Politically he was a Unionist and Socialist.
In 1908 Donald was nominated by the Socialist Labor Party as the US Vice Presidential candidate.
