  • Notes
    • John was born after the death of his father. He was christened by Mr. Walkins, Methodist Minister, in the church on the corner of Love and Spain Street, third municipality.

He married the daughter of Henry and Martha (Charlotte) Schroeder.

It is said that he helped design Fort Mass on Ship Island in Gulfport, Mississippi.

His wife was said to be a lady in waiting to the Queen in Great Britain, but went to the U.S. when she was 16. She was a "daughter of Edinburgh" and received a "bounty from the King."
