  When he was 9 years old, William was attending a picnic with the 3rd United Presbyterian Sabbath School (Rev. John G. Brown, D.D., Pastor). Around 2 PM on June 27 1867, he was bathing in the Ohio River near McKees' Rocks when he drowned.
