Notes |
- Edwin only completed grade school, but became the chief engineer at Nash Kelvanator in Detroit, Michigan. One of his favorite sayings, however, was that education is the only thing they can't take away from you.
He married the daughter of Alexander and Christina "Annie" (Herr) Duhring.
He was sometimes described as a "good time Charley". He lived for having fun. He drank too much and definitely smoked too much. One thing he did take seriously was his fishing.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and went to all their dances. He loved to dance and was never seen sitting one out. He also enjoyed flirting with the girls. He also enjoyed playing cards and gardening.
Edwin died of lung cancer, but he had so many friends at his funeral that there was no more room in the funeral hall and people had to stand outside.
