  • Notes
    • Reuben William "Bud" Tilley was a veteran of World War II. It is said that he memorized the eye chart because he was blind in one eye and didn't want to be classified "4F". He spent three and a half years in Europe and was part of the invasion force that landed on the beaches in Normandy.

He completed 11th grade and later worked as a truck driver with a construction company in Detroit, Michigan. He married the daughter of David Peter and Ruby Hazel (Fisher) Shinavier. They both were Presbyterian.

His wife, Rose ended her schooling after the 10th grade and went into retail sales. She liked to get clothing on sale and in conjunction with her employee discount and then give them to the less fortunate people in the neighborhood. She had a tendency to over do it at Christmas time. She liked singing in the church choir and she often spent her days off helping to care for her mother after she had a stroke. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.

She and another person were killed during a robbery of the store where she worked.
