- Newton studied music at the Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College.
He served for 40 years as chief engineer for the Kansas City, Missouri Development Company. He was also chief engineer for the Kansas City Terminal. He moved to La Jolla, California when he retired. He lived at 6110 Avenida Cresta there. He died at the Scripps Memorial Hospita.
