- Esther was born on the Munro farm on the Purdon line. She attended school in Powassan and was married to Edward Joseph Geisler on 17 Oct 1945. Edward was killed in a mining accident just three months after their marriage.
She moved with her parents into her home on Edward Street and cared for them until their deaths. She then worked as an operator for Bell Canada for several years before serving in the underground operation of Sage in North Bay. She then moved to work as the office manager of the Powassan Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources where she was employed until her retirement in 1986.
Esther was very active in many aspects of community life as a member of the Maple Hill Women's Institute, and both the Powassan Horticultural and Agricultural Societies. She served on the Board of Stewards and was a Sunday School teacher and active member of the Powassan United Church.
She was a charter member of the Algonquin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #295 when it was formed in 1957. During those years she was both a Worthy Matron and a District Deputy Grand Matron.
She liked to travel by air, and visited England, Yellostone and her brother Austin in North Carolina as well as travelling to Hawaii with her friend Jessie Barton. When Les Whittaker taught painting in night school, Esther developed her talent as a painter and helped paint the Centennial tribute collage at the Golden Sunshine club. Her ability as a seamstress created wedding dresses for several members of her family. Esther never missed a birthday. She will be remembered for her friendly smile and gentle ways.
