- Rolla was handicapped, probably by polio. He died of "marasmus" at the age of 14 years. Marasmus means persistent emaciation, most often used in relation to infants. In a 14-year old it could be leukemia, kidney tumor, chronic infectious disease, diabetes, etc. Ref. (1) says he died in Jul 1900.
