  Ref: Clan Munro files - Dorris, Mary Emma - Munford, Ray Donavon, Jr. Marshall was born in Montgomery County, North Carolina. He graduated from Davidson College in 1873 and the seminary in 1877, and went into the Presbyterian ministry. He met Emma McRae at Mount Holly Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly, Arkansas, where he was the pastor. He was minister to several churches in Arkansas until 1892, when he was called to be the minister of First Presbyterian Church in Milford, Ellis County, Texas. Emma was already ill with tuberculosis at the time of the move and died in 1893, leaving 6 children. Marshall married Sallie McLean in 1894. They had 2 more children.
