  • Notes
    • !Frances Delisle was the daughter of Rev. David Delisle and his wife Margaret. He was Rector of Anglican Christ Church Cathedral in Montreal, Quebec. Her marriage to Cornelius Munro is recorded in that church record as 5 Oct 1794.

!Harriet Delisle, a sister of Frances, was buried in the Munro family plot in Matilda, and her memorial stone is now beside other Munro stones in the U.E.L. Cemetery in Riverside, Morrisburg, Ontario. The inscription reads: "To the memory of the late Harriet Delisle, daughter of Margaret and David Delisle rector of Christ's Church, Montreal, who departed this life October 8th 179 , aged 20 years". Cornelius and Frances named their daughter" Harriet" in memory of this deceased sister.

!Records available to document connection to the Munro fanily are in the box of "Munro Papers" at McCord Memorial Library, McGill University, Montreal. The following letters are preserved:
      (1) Frances Munro to her brother(in-law) Dr. Henry Munro - written from Cornwall, Ontario, asking for help for "fatherless children" dated Oct 30, 1811.
      (2) Letter from Allen Munro, Cornwall, to his "uncle Dr. Henry Munro" about Power of Attorney. Dated Dec 27, 1822.
      (3) Letter from Allen Munro at Binghamsville to uncle Dr. Henry Munro. Dated 1824.
      (4) Power of Attorney to Allen Munro from Frances Munro, of Hinchinbrook, Co. Huntingdon, Montreal District. She is designated "daughter and co-heiress of Rev Mr. Delisle, deceased. Dated 1825.

!Cornelius Munro was the only child of John and Mary Munro to be baptised in the Dutch Reformed Church at Schenectady, New York. This "honor" was probably because he was named for his maternal grandfather, origionally of that parish. Cornelius was Sherriff in the Morrisburg-Cornwall area in about 1800, and at the time of his father's death (Dec 1800) and later his name appears on many court records for Bonds and Estates. He was active in the local Militia and is listed as a Coronel. He signs some documents as Col. Munro. He is also instrumental in building the first Presbyterian Church in the area and buys Pew #1 in the Subscriptions.
