- Philip attended Melrose, Massachusetts schools and graduated from Melrose High School in 1917. He later graduated from Boston University with a degree in business administration.
During World War I, he served in the Army, and during World War II, he served in the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in North Africa, and Japan and was in Southern France on D Day.
For 41 years, he was an executive for Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey, (later Mobil Oil Co.), retiring in 1962. He then moved to Freeport, Massachusetts.
Philip was a member of the Pequossett Masonic Lodge, Watertown, Massachusetts, Allopee Temple Shriners in Boston, Founders and Patriots of America in Maine and Massachusetts, and was a past governor of that organization in Maine. He was a life member and past president of the Retired Officers Association, Pine Tree chapter, and the Reserve Officers Association.
He enjoyed golf and gardening.
He died at a Yarmouth, Massachusetts nursing home.
