Notes |
- On 27 Feb 1835, shortly after the death of his father, Oliver purchased five household items at his father's estate sale. He was the only Monroe surnamed individual who purchased items.
He paid a poll tax in Black Township in Posey County in 1842. While others on the list were tased for their acreage, Oliver so not, leading to the conclusion he was landless at the time.
Oliver was counted twice in the 1850 U.S. census. He was a teamster living with his family in Black, Indiana with $400 in property, and in Mt. Vernon, Indiana with $600 in property.
Shortly before the 1860 census, Oliver migrated with his family from Posey County to Jefferson County, Illinois. He is listed there with his family on the 1860 census, where it says he was a 47 year old farmer born in Indiana.
liver served in Company D, 60th Illinois Infantry from Jefferson County during the American Civil War (1860-1865)
