  In 1850, Nicholas was a shoemaker with $300 in property living in Washington, PA. It is not certain that he was married to Martha McCullen. Another reference says his wife's name was Sarah. Another reference says he married (1) Sarah and (2) Martha. Ref: "The Monroe Book" by Dr. Joan S. Guilford - PA Unconnected Monroes Clan Munro files - Monroe, Donald Dee Compiled and edited by Allen Alger, Genealogist, Clan Munro Association, USA Addendum: Per 1850 Census, Nicholas Monroe and Martha were living in Washington Township, Belmont County, Ohio, USA. Per notes from Katherine Mead, He was in Belmont Ohio on the 1820 Somerset, Belmont, OH Census and on Tax Lists there in 1826, 1827 and 1828. In 1830 he is located in York, Belmont, OH and on Tax Lists there for 1830, 1831, 1833, 1836, 1837 and 1838. By 1840 he is living in Washington Township, Belmont Co, Ohio. He "is noted as the father of the groom in an Ohio marriage record for John Monroe who married Matilda Lambert". Per Ancestry.com records, he married Martha McCullam in Belmont, OH on 18 March 1847.
