- Daniel Monroe is listed as one of a company of Howard County, Missouri settlers who manned Fort Kincaid, (or possibly Fort Hempstead) strongholds built by the settlers to defend against Indian attacks about 1815.
The first persons to die from disease in Howard County, were Daniel's wife and infant child.
One reference says Daniel's wife was Elizabeth Baronet married 10 Jun 1819.
