- He lived in Burke County, Georgia, but not much is known about him due to a fire in Waynesboro, Burke County, Georgia about 1854. Fragments of land holdings and land lottery winnings can be found.
A number of other references can be found to a number of Monroes with the family Christian names of Simeon (Simon), Thomas, Phillip, James, John, William, in the Savannah District and remaining Burke County records as well as ship logs of immigrants from Scotland. Family tradition places the immigration from Scotland at about 1765.
It has not been proven that William was the father of Simeon Monroe.
