"George was ancestor of Munros of Knockancuirn (Mackenzie 459-62); wife's father was son of Finlay Munro of Easter Lealty known as Finlay McVrebiter or Finlay son of Donald son of Finlay in Delnreich or Dallinrich (Rockfield Writs, 3 RPC xi 417, Alness MI, Mackenzie 556)."
According to Mackenzie, Finlay was originally named Finlay Macrae who left Kintail and found shelter in Easter Ross, from the representatives of the Law, who were in search of him for some alleged offense in his native parish. After all danger had passed, Finlay settled and married in the district in which, on his first arrival in it, he found welcome and protection.
