"Alexr. of Killichoan married Janet daughter to Mr John McGilligin of Alnes by whom he had John David Robert Christane Janet and Margaret."

Robert was a tenant of Clare. On 28 Mar 1711, he was "dilated" at a meeting of the Session for "fornication with Catherine Buie." There is no further reference to the matter in the records, but at a meeting of the Session on 17 Jun 1723, Mary Bain in Strathskea, "lately in Clare," stated that Robert was the father of her child. Robert strongly denied the allegation and the Session delayed further consideration of the matter until the next meeting and ordered all who had worked as Robert's servants for the two years that Mary lived in Clare, to be in attendance. The next meeting was held on 30 Mar 1724, but there is no mention in the minutes of Robert and Mary's case. It apparently collapsed.

Robert appears to have died unmarried.
