      James was educated in Edinburgh, where he became Extractor of Deeds.

      [Alexander Monro]«i»? Cousin of Robert Monro of Coul, writer in Edinburgh, on record 1670, 1677, 1686, 1687; appointed Regent in St. Salvator's College, St. Andrews, 15 Jan 1691; Provost of the College 16 Jan 1694; friend & correspondent of John Mackenzie of Delvine, W.S.; d. Dec 1697, unmarried. (Robt. Ramsay nominated successor 29 Jan 1698.) Apparently a friend of James, brother of Alexander Monro of Ardullie (under clerk of Session). See John fl 1690/1 d. 1696/7; Rev. Alex fl 1634/49 d. 1643.
