- George was educated in Auburn, Chauncey Hall, in Boston, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated with the highest honors the college has to offer, Tau Beta Phi, in 1927. He later earned an advanced degree there.
He went to England to study at Oxford, but returned to a position with Boston Woven Hose and Rubber Co., where he became head of the efficiency department.
After another trip to Europe, to observe processes of manufacture in rubber factories, in 1934, he became assistant to the receiver of the National Shoe and Leather Bank of Auburn.
He died of a sudden illness. His only child was born after his death.
