• Notes

  Henson was from Virginia, but he moved to Ohio via Pennsylvania and settled in Shelby County, Ohio in 1834. He bought a farm beside the Miami and Erie Canal. It is said that he fathered 17 children, but only 16 are known. The 1860 census of Shelby County, Ohio shows a Townsend Monroe [21011], age 31, living with the widow Eliza Campbell Monroe.
