'agnamed Crechan' (Chronological & Genealogical Account of the Ancient & Honorable Family of Foulis, Inverness 1805) or 'Ni Cruich' (Munro Tree), but Mackenzie 396 says this was his grandson Alexander. On record 1549 as 'Alex Munro of Ardulle' (Foulis Writs no. 16), also 1552 (Reg. Mag. Sig. ), & prob. also in 1560, 1578, but son Hugh 'of Ardullie' 1581.

The following is a transcription of RW Munro's genealogy notes:
[Alexander Munro] «i»Only son of Hugh Munro of Ardullie (fl 1581/1599). Succeeded father; 'in Obsdale'; sold Ardullie to cousin Hugh (d.1659); m (1) ____ Keith, with issue - Hugh, John; m(2) Agnes Tarrell, with issue - George, Alexander, Robert, Catherine. Sale /purchase of Ardullie was in 1619 (Inverness Sasines). Alexander of Ardullie fl 1560, 1578, 1581 is presumably his grandfather; Mackenzie 306 mistakenly attached the nickname 'Cruachan' to the grandson, whereas it was clearly applied to grandfather in 'Tree' & 'Chron Acc'.
