"David Munro of Meikle Allan married a daughter to Davies of Whitehall by whom he had John Andrew and Joseph."
"This version from Teaninich and Culcairn copies has been preferred to the original MS, which is overwritten to read: 'Captain D Munro of Meikle Allan in the Earl of Rothes Horse was slain at the Battle of the Boyne. He married a daughter of Davis of Whitehall and had issue'. But David was dead by 1674; his widow Marie Davis, mother of his son John, was living 1692, her father said to be John of Whitehall near Carrickfergus son of Sir John Davis (1569-1626) attorney-general for Ireland."

V. John Monro, who burdened the estate heavily with debt, having granted William Ross of Easter Fearn several wadsets over it. The late Elizabeth Leila Monro of Allan, writing to the Rev. Dr Gustavus Aird, of Creich, on the 24th of February, 1882, says that this John "covered the estate with debt--the various wadsets still to be seen with which he involved the place." He died unmarried, and was succeeded by his brother, VI. Joseph Monro,
