    • David and his brother, George, enlisted in Company F, 42nd Massachusetts Infantry in the American Civil War. The two brothers went to New Orleans by boat, and served a year in that area. David was honorably discharged at Readville, Massachusetts on 20 Aug 1863, and became a shoe maker.
