    • Mary's husband, William, was the son of Jefferson Monroe and Alaitt E. (Lewis) Miller. He and Mary were married in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Brushton, New York in 1916.

      William served in World War I as a Staff Sargent Chauffeur and was assigned to Troop B at Albany, New York in the Home Enlisted Reserve Corps. In his enlistment papers, he is described as caucasian, tall, medium build, grey eyes and brown hair. His Selective Service Record was signed by Robert C. Growe, precinct 2, Franklin County, New York, 5 Jun 1917. He served in the United States Army from 2 Jun 1917 to 9 Aug 1919, and from 10 Oct 1919 to 9 Oct 1920. He received an Honorable Discharge as Staff-Sergeant.

      After his discharge, William worked as a machinist. He and Mary were separated in 1923.
