Maria (pronounced Mariah) was the daughter of William and Catherine (Duel) Magee of LeRaysville, Pennsylvania.
William Magee disappeared leaving a family of small children. Roxanna Miles Robinson, on hearing of the plight of the family, drove 35 miles with a horse and sleigh in the dead of winter and asked for a child to raise. Roxanna took Maria with her and raised her as a member of the Robinson family. Roxanna and Eliakim Robinson lived on their farm in Windy Valley Pennsylvania, located between Forkston and Kasson Brook.
