Elisha and Pamelia were early settlers in Princeton, Illinois. Later, he, along with others, started the First National Bank of Mendota, Illinois, the oldest bank in LaSalle County, Illinois.
Both Elisha and his father were farsighted, mentally alert and very successful businessmen.

Elisha went to California where he started the first smelter in that state. By 1834, he had moved his family to LaMoille, Illinois.

He lived in Rutland, Templeton, and permanently settled in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire about 1767.
