    Notes:

    Alexander studied for the Church at Aberdeen University. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Caithness on 22 Nov 1831 and presented to Watten on 5 Dec 1836. He was ordained on 6 Apr 1837.

    He left the church at the Disruption in 1843 and became a minister of the Free Church congregation in the same parish and remained there for the remainder of his life.

    [Alexander Monro] «i»Youngest son of Charles Monro of Berryhill (1777- ) and Mary Arthur; born Stonehaven 1823; admitted S.S.C., 17 July 1855;jointt town clerk of Glasgow and later town clerk 1858-1871; prominent in committee with establishment of City Improvement Trust; married Charlotte Stephens; died 9 October 1871. Studied Marischal College, Aberdeen, (A.M. at 16); entered father's office (C. & C.A. Monro Solicitors Stonehaven), later in Edinburgh (Andrew Dunn, W.S. - Dundas and Wilson) and Glasgow ( - Allardice); "an able man of business...but inclined to be dilatory"; "as a conveyor and parliamentary agent Mr. Munro had few equals and no superiors", (Scotsman obit).
