Maria (pronounced Mariah) was the daughter of William and Catherine (Duel) Magee of LeRaysville, Pennsylvania.
William Magee disappeared leaving a family of small children. Roxanna Miles Robinson, on hearing of the plight of the family, drove 35 miles with a horse and sleigh in the dead of winter and asked for a child to raise. Roxanna took Maria with her and raised her as a member of the Robinson family. Roxanna and Eliakim Robinson lived on their farm in Windy Valley Pennsylvania, located between Forkston and Kasson Brook.

Asher did not move to Ohio with his parents and younger siblings because he loved his home near Kasson Brook in Windy Valley too much to leave. One summer he walked to Ohio to visit his parents and then returned home.
