Elbridge Gerry Brooks

Notes:

Elbridge was the son of Oliver and Susan Brooks of Dover and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

He studied law for two years with Judge John S. Tenny, of Norridgewalk, Maine, and divinity with Rev. Thomas F. King of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He began preaching in Jun 1836 and was ordained at West Amesbury, Massachusetts on 19 Jun 1837.

He became the pastor at East Cambridge on 16 Sep 1838 and transferred to Lowell, Massachusetts on 1 May 1845 and to Bath, Maine in Nov 1846. On 22 Dec 1850, he was installed over the Universalist Society in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he was living in 1852.
