  1. 1.  Angus Bethune was born about 1739; died on 19 Oct 1801 in Prob., Alness, Scotland.

    Notes:

    The Rev. Angus Bethune, A.M., was the eldest son of the Rev. John Bethune, minister of Glenshiel 1730-1781, and his wife, Christian (Macleod) Bethune.

    Angus graduated from the University and King's College in Aberdeen on 2 Apr 1764, and went on to study at Edinburgh. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Gairloch on 8 Oct 1766, and ordained to Harris on 23 Aug 1768. He was transferred to Alness on 25 Jul 1771 and admitted on 25 Sep. He got a new church built at Alness in 1780.

    For some time, he served as Chaplain of the 71st Foot.

    6. Rose Bethune was born about 1784; died on 31 Aug 1850.
    7. Anne Bethune was born about 1790; and died.
    8. Catherine Bethune was born about 1792; and died.

    Angus married Janet Munro on 21 Sep 1796. Janet (daughter of Joseph Munro and Barbara Ross) was born est 1749; died on 7 Mar 1846; was buried in Alness Church, Alness, Scotland. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
